Pre-Dawn Paranoia – The Urge to Nest

There’s something I should be doing at this moment. I just have no idea what that could be!

This morning I woke up at 5:15 completely panic stricken – we aren’t ready for a baby! Our laundry room is in a total state of disaster, our kitchen area is more geared for wine – not baby – bottles, and household cleaners can all be found near the floor where tiny hands can easily grasp them.

I immediately got out of bed and began figuring out a plan of action.

While the laundry room is now clean, I have yet to do anything about the kitchen. Where in the world does all this baby gear actually GO once you get it into the house?

I know there are women who already have a hospital bag packed at 29 weeks. They already have their car seats nestled safely in a rear-facing direction in their mom-friendly vehicles. Most likely, they’ve even taken their strollers out for a test drive or two.

I am not one of those women.

Reality set in for me only this morning, and the most unfortunate thing about it is that for most items on my “not prepared” list, there’s simply nothing I can do at this point.

I think some things are going to have to happen after baby is born, which includes learning all about him! Some girls are familiar with these little humans from the time of their own childhood – others have babies thrust upon them. I firmly place myself in the last category, praying that I’ll be ready when the time comes!

  1. You will be a Wonderful Momma! Remember God is in control.. and he is going to give you the grace and all the maternal instincts you need! And if it’s anything like my life… they should arrive just in the nick of time! 🙂
